Belgian Waffle

There are certain recipes that carry more than just flavor…they carry memories.

This Belgian waffle recipe is one of those. Passed down from my great aunt, it has been part of our family for years. It was the breakfast I looked forward to most growing up, especially on birthdays, when I’d wake up to a plate of warm waffles waiting in the kitchen.

INGREDIENTS

3 cups sour cream

1 ½ cups milk

3 eggs

½ cup sugar

½ cup oil (avocado oil or vegetable oil)

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 teaspoons baking powder

Pinch of salt

3 cups flour

Step 1: In a large bowl, combine 3 cups of sour cream and 1 ½ cups of milk.

Step 2: Add 3 eggs, ½ cup sugar, and ½ cup oil. Mix until well combined.

Step 3: Stir in 1 teaspoon baking soda, 3 teaspoons baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

Step 4: Gradually add 3 cups of flour, mixing until the batter is smooth. Do not overmix.

Step 5: Preheat your waffle iron and lightly grease if needed.

Step 6: Pour batter into the waffle iron and cook according to your waffle maker instructions until golden.

Step 7: Serve warm with butter and syrup, or top with strawberries and ice cream for a special treat.
